Whilst The Times invests in Times Radio to build subscriptions (apparently an additional 35,000 will make the sums add up), The Spectator may be doing better with gin.

Editor Fraser Nelson is something of a gin connoisseur, and the magazine's most recent promotion offered 12 editions for £12 plus a free 70cl bottle of Spectator Gin, supplied by Foxdenton from their base on an industrial estate in Buckingham, "worth £25".  Once they've got your card details, the subscription renews automatically at £39.99 for 13 issues, unless you remember to stop it.
