Streaming ahead

BBC iPlayer boss Dan McGolpin claims a piece of the current viewing kudos, saying Monday 23 March was iPlayer’s most popular day ever, with a record 20.4 million requests to stream programmes on the service. It was the day Boris Johnson addressed the nation and told us to stay home.

He's also revealed that last Monday 13 April brought 20.2 million requests - that was the day Killing Eve Series 3 launched in the UK on iPlayer only, and The Nest concluded, on tv and streamed.

Over the first week it was available, Killing Eve Series 3 Episode 1 brought in 2.8m streaming requests.

I don't like using 'requests' as a measure; it doesn't tell you how many people watched how much of a programme, but this new figure compares with a daily average of 11m requests for 2019.
