One of the problems of waiting for a new DG is the growing size of the pending tray. A new future for local radio in England was put to the BBC Board as far back as November last year, and the revelation was sign-posted in Lord Hall's New Year speech. Here we are in March, and there's still no sign of it.
This will make it difficult for candidates seeking to fill three vacancies, running BBC Radio WM, Radio Derby and Radio Stoke. Do they have to guess the new strategy ?
