One of the 'savings' announced by BBC News today is the closure of World Update, their Monday-to-Friday 1000gmt newshour, currently fronted by Dan Damon. It's been a fixture of the World Service in English schedule since 1997, when it was launched with presenter Vicki Barker. Dan took over in 2003.
Presumably something cheaper will fill the gap. Most News staff working on news and current affairs programmes for World Service rotate around the various show, so it may not be the team working on it now that go, but the start of a trawl for redundancy volunteers. I hope that's the way it works.
