When bantz goes wrong. On last night's Beyond 100 Days, on the BBC News channel, Christian Fraser in London used his best glinty eyes to introduce an item about baseball, proclaiming himself a recent convert to the sport, and giving a name check to his team, the 'Washington Cardinals'.
Co-host Katty Kay, in Washington, picked him up. "I know NOTHING about baseball, but even I know it's the BALTIMORE Cardinals." A bit of video, and back they come with Katty sort-of admitting she'd got it wrong too -- it was the Baltimore Orioles, but at least they were both birds [???], and at least she hadn't been setting herself up as anyone pretending to know anything about baseball.
For the record, it's the St Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals.
