Child minder

James Purnell starts the New Year looking for a new boss for BBC Children's. Quietly, the previous incumbent, Alice Webb, has shuffled off to Universal Music subsidiary, Eagle Rock Entertainment, who make films and dvds of live band performances, from a base in London.

Alice had been with the BBC for 15 years, and was most recently seen forging partnerships with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. She came from PA Consulting, but her background was in civil engineering, with deep experience of waste water management - clearly useful in the modern BBC.
She'll probably earn a little more than her current £210k+ at Universal.
