The hard-working BBC Board has August off, but their September meeting minutes are now out.
There's talk of 'stretch' targets, to extrude more money from UKTV, now wholly owned by BBC Studios. New CEO Marcus Arthur (BA Psychology, Glasgow; post grad qualification in Marketing from Strathclyde; part-time MBA from Ashridge). Since the meeting Marcus has lost his Chief Marketing Officer, Zoe Clapp.
There's a bit redacted about the trial of the Simple Payments Plan. Licence fee "customers" were invited to take part if they had either been interviewed under caution for evasion, or had previously held a licence that was cancelled within the last six months because of missed payments.
They could choose from either a fortnightly or monthly payment plan, but the SPP also offered flexibility if a payment was missed, spreading it across the remainder of the plan instead of having to pay double the amount next time. If payments were missed three months in a row, customers were removed from the trial. Looks to me like the trial worked, and is going live soon.
