New Year messages 1

Trevor Kavanagh in The Sun says Boris Johnson will take an axe to the BBC. Auntie, he argues, can't afford to wait seven years to change the way it's funded, and Trev finds a Tory minister to tell him:

“The public mood has changed. At one time, the fight was not worth having because the Government could not hope to win it. Today, a majority of younger MPs don’t even watch it.

“If it wants to survive, it should take the initiative on funding and demand a review sooner rather than later and come up with alternative sources of revenue.

“The licence fee is for the birds.”
