"This year we’ve broken all records, breaking 4 billion programme requests for the first time. In November alone, we had more than 439 million programme requests – iPlayer’s biggest ever month.
Crucially, more under-35s are watching iPlayer than ever before."
Thus BBC DG Lord Hall in the Borisgraph. Try to track like with like, BBCiPlayer reported 3.3bn requests in 2017, and 3.6bn in 2018. I'm really interested in the under 35s figure - iPlayer has always had a younger profile than terrestrial tv. In March 2018, for example, under 35s made up 39% of the iPlayer users. In 2014, the under 35 figure for the year was 46%. In 2015 and 2016 is was 45%.
Lord Hall tells us "In the space of a year, iPlayer’s reach to young audiences has increased by around 20 per cent." The precise demographics and comparison with last year would be useful.
