Which dongle again?

The BBC's commercial approach to the USA is a right mess. It has partnered with AMC to deliver BBC America. AMC has a streaming service, Acorn TV, only available in the States. It promises " world-class mysteries, dramas, and comedies from Britain and beyond."

AMC has just reported that it has reached 1m subscribers. Content available includes Line of Duty, Keeping Faith, Detectorists, Jamaica Inn and Partners In Crime, alongside ITV stuff like Doc Martin.

Meanwhile the BBC/ITV streaming service in the USA, Britbox, has 650,000 subscribers for its mix of BBC and ITV Content, including Fawlty Towers, Death In Paradise. It includes QI, Midsomer Murders, Poirot, Prime Suspect and more which are also available on Acorn TV.

If you're based in the States, The Office is on both Hulu and Britbox; Pride and Prejudice and Mr Bean are on Britbox, Hulu and Prime Video;

Ah, well, at least it's all British.

BBC America is showing Star Trek Next Generation from 5am to 8pm today, followed by showings of Gladiator. Tomorrow, it's Star Trek from 3am to 3pm followed by three American films.
