A month ago Ben Cooper, Controller Radio 1, announced his departure from the organisation in the New Year. You might think that would be enough time to cook up a job advert. Is there a sniff of re-structuring/re-imagination in the air ?
Ben's full responsibilities: Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, the Radio 1 iPlayer channel and all visualisation for the BBC Radio division. James Purnell's problem (shared with new Controller of Pop Lorna Clarke) is gender balance and diversity on his management team - I feel a break-up of some of these roles coming on....
