At 9pm, Jeremy Paxman looks glum and pained for a whole hour, asking Why Are Our Politicians So Crap ? It is another Brook Lapping production, under the supervision of Dr Victoria James. Vic studied English and History at Merton College, Oxford, proceeding to a Ph.D; she's working on her second Ph.D at Goldsmiths. She's written a trilogy of teen fiction, called Dark Gifts.
At 10pm, C5 offers Jeremy Vine hosting a live debate "Are Our Politicians Up To The Job ?", a question that, according to the Paxman thesis, shouldn't need answering. This ITN production continues for over an hour, running into Newsnight's territory...
