Statfest

Some mixed statistics for BBC News in a new study of European public service broadcasters by the Reuters Institute for Journalism.

The combined weekly reach for BBC News, via tv, radio and online is 78% (based on a survey of 2023). The added value of BBC News' online offering is 10% of that total; better than seven other European broadcasters.

BBC News online reaches 56% of under-25s, better than the 50% reached by tv and radio bulletins, but still down from 59% reach three years ago. Again, the figures are ahead of others on the continent.

This is the worrying graph, show BBC News' weekly reach as percentage of population broken down by age group - people only come in big numbers to BBC News when they're over 55. In this, 'offline' means reach of tv and radio bulletins.
