John Ryley, head of Sky News “Our new line up reflects the fact that Sky News has the best team in the business.” Yes, John, the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.
Since Eamonn Holmes left in October 2016, the breakfast ratings have been a matter of concern. This time last year, News from the IKEA Cube, otherwise known as 'Sunrise', fronted by Sarah-Jane Mee, featured 5 times in Sky News' top 15 most watched shows; no sign of it all in the most recent weekly figures.
So Sarah, 41, swops with The Queen of the Afternoon, Kay Burley, 58. La Burley gets more of a lie-in, running from 0700 to 0900 Monday to Thursday. And she only has to travel to Sky's Westminster base - presumably in the hope of scooping up some better live guests. Niall Paterson offers "The Early Rundown" from 0600 to 0700.
