Rum goings on at Controller-less Radio 5Live. Presenter Garry Richardson, 62, has announced today was his last SportsWeek, the hour-long batch of interviews at 9am on Sunday mornings. It started on the network in 1997, with host Brian Alexander, and Garry took over in 1999. But the show was the spiritual child of Sport on 4, on Radio 4, first with Tony Lewis and then Cliff Morgan, from the mid-eighties.
It's hard to tell if it's just Garry that's going, or the format as well. Recently the show has been produced by Garry's company, Frontpage Media. On the next two Sundays, the schedule is filled with live World Cup Rugby.
