Temping

It should have been a major concert hall. The last corner of land on the BBC's White City site was earmarked as a music centre for many years - but that was in the days when the strategy was to vacate Broadcasting House, and build a Radio Centre in W12. It's been a temporary car park since the 90s - quite a good one, at that.

Now it's home to a very solid looking temporary theatre complex. Troubabour Theatres, a company now specialising in modular kit-based venues, learned their trade at King's Cross. At White City, they've put up two big spaces, one seating 1,200, the other 900. Sally Cookson’s National Theatre adaptation of Peter Pan opened in the big hangar - plenty of space for flying - last week.
