Head of Joining In

Fans of Carry On Cruising will know the vital role some ship's officers on the SS Happy Wanderer have in keeping the paying passengers happy - endlessly trying to engage them in deck quoits, ping pong, gymnastics, fancy dress nights and more.

Congratulations, then, to the BBC's Chris Gibson, who's been appointed to the pellucid job title of In Plain Sight News Editor. Chris (BA, English and Creative Writing, Warwick and Post-Grad Dip in Journalism Cardiff) will be responsible for the In Plain Sight project (digital production of news stories suggested by BBC staff without an obvious 'peg'), the “We Are…” BBC News weeks and Audience Takeover Days.

Chris spent 8 years at ITV News, where once toiled BBC Newsgathering boss, Jonathan Munro.
