There may be an audience-winning theory behind it, but it's not obvious. Poldark finishes with episodes at 8pm on Sunday 25th August and 8.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday. The new Peaky Blinders starts at 9.00pm on the Sunday, with episode 2 at 9.30pm on the Bank Holiday.
Prediction. The Poldark faithful will complain about accents, intelligibility and violence. If they don't, the Mail will.
Is it possible that the overlap comes because someone in scheduling counted wrong?
