In the jiggling to replace Andrea Leadsom, the DCMS welcomes a new junior minister, Rebecca Pow, 56 (La Sainte Union Convent, and Wye College, London University) MP for Taunton Deane.
Rebecca's first taste of the media was presenting a programme called Country Connections at commercial station Radio West in the early 80s (when Johnnie Walker was re-building a UK career there). There followed two years on the production team of Farming Today, with occasional presentation. In those days the programme carried regular market reports, and, according to the Radio Times, Rebecca was voted the sexiest-ever reader of fatstock prices. Clearly this was a strong launchpad for a tv reporting gig with HTV.
