Learning becomes Education becomes merged

Re-invention continues apace in James Purnell's part of the BBC, as "Children's" and "Education" merge.

Sinead Rocks, in charge of BBC Learning, is off to C4 in Leeds, and will not be replaced. Alice Webb becomes Director of Children's and Education, and Helen Foulkes, creative director of BBC Learning takes day-to-day control of Education.

Mr Purnell's memo to staff says "Bringing your departments together will open up new possibilities for collaboration – I know you’ll benefit from each other’s strengths, so we can serve our audience even better."
