Jesus' Alleyne

Another name from broadcasting will be presiding over a Cambridge college from September. Sonita Alleyne (Leyton High School for Girls and BA Philosophy Fitzwilliam, Cambridge) has been elected Master of Jesus.

Sonita started out in the publicity department of Jazz FM, and worked her way into production. After redundancy, she co-founded indie Somethin' Else - and their first weekly commission was Jazz on 3.  She served as a BBC Trustee for five years. Her current non-executive posts include chair of the British Board of Film Classification, director of the Cultural Capital Fund, governor of the Museum of London and member of the Skills for Londoners Business Partnership Members Group.

The previous Master's salary was just £32k - but you do get the use of a nice gaff, potentially endless three-course meals and bags of holiday.

Sonita's niece is actress Jade Alleyne, currently appearing in "Years and Years" on BBC1.
