What's in a name ?

I think I detect the sound of a handbrake turn, as BBC strategy goes expedient.

BBC Sounds was invented to get the Corporation a bigger slice of perceived-under-35s-piling-in-podcasts-action (based on the US experience which may not completely translate to the UK).  Now, apparently, it's a selfless gesture by the BBC to make the UK great again.  Here's James Purnell

"We have confirmed we are in discussions with key UK stakeholders on how listeners could enjoy live linear radio and podcasts from third party providers in BBC Sounds. Our aim is to support the British creative industries, as well as champion new, niche, innovative UK podcasts that may struggle to achieve prominence on global platforms. We would like to make Sounds a platform that serves British audiences and British creativity."

So is it to be BBC Sounds or just Sounds ?
