Whose Television Centre again ?

New ITV boss Carolyn McCall has torn up the company's property strategy, in move which could see key ITV programmes staying permanently at (the former BBC) Television Centre.

Until now, the stated aim was to redevelop the company's prestigious South Bank site with a mixture of new studios, offices and luxury flats. ITV's London operations have already been dispersed to Holborn and White City ahead of the reconstruction work, planned to start within the next twelve months.

ITV is now said to be ready to sell the freehold, bought for £56m in 2013 - it might get five times that from a sale now. Cash now clearly deemed more useful than future development profits...
