Remember lovable, charismatic Culture Secretary John Whittingdale ? And his White Paper ahead of Charter Renewal, which accused BBC1 of running "a static daytime schedule highly reliant on long-running property and collectables programming”.
Yesterday, a hint of movement from Daytime Controller Dan McGolpin, confirming that "Flog It", hosted by Paul Martin, has finally been flogged to death, after more than 1,000 episodes since 2002. “If we’re trying to create the new generation then some of the long-running shows will have to go. Now and again, we reach a time to move on and modernise, bringing through some new shows.”
Next from Mr McGolpin: "Make Me A Dealer", in which two amateur antiques dealers invest their own money to buy items at auction before trying to sell them for profit. The contestant who makes the most money will then be named 'dealer of the day'. Host: Paul Martin.
