The BBC has advertised for a replacement for Jeremy Howe as Commissioning Editor of Drama and Fiction for Radio 4 and 4 Extra, three months after the announcement that Jezzer's off to The Archers. Alison Hindell, whose full-time job is supposed to be Head of Radio Drama, is currently still billed as the Series Editors of the everyday story of etc.
The ad for Commissioning Editor requires a critical appraisal of the current state of affairs.
"As part of your application, in the space provided, you will be asked to providea critical appraisal of drama and fiction on Radio 4 and a vision for its strategic development. This should be up to a maximum of 2 sides of A4 (approximately 1,200 words)."
Jeremy commissions around 300 'titles' a year. Any suggestion of stockpiling ahead of his move to The Archers would be terrible, wouldn't it ?
