As football managers often find, it's one thing buying star names; it's quite another making them work together. Britain's Best Home Cook boasts Mary Berry AND Claudia Winkleman, but episode 3 of the latest BBC1 attempt to extrude ratings from kitchen contests has fallen below 3m in the ratings, by some way - 2.17m (a 12.9% share). The programme is produced by KEO Films, with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall billed as a consultant, in extensive closing credits.
BBC bosses sometimes don't know best - cf the forced-pairing of Mayo and Whiley at drivetime on Radio 2.
