Tinkling

The consistently-entertaining SNP MP for Perth and North Perthshire, Pete Wishart, former keyboards player for Big Country and Runrig, and the only MP to have appeared on Top of The Pops, is going to have some fun with the BBC over its new channel for Scotland.

As chairman of the Scottish Affairs Select Committee, he's inviting BBC execs to an evidence session on their proposal. There is precedent - Ken MacQuarrie appeared before them when he was Director of Scotland. Pete, of course, will aim for Lord Hall.

This is a geographically-challenged committee - four SNP members and one Labour have Scottish seats.  The two other Labour members stand for Jarrow and Coventry South.

The four Tories on the committee represent, in ascending distance from the Scottish border, Carlisle, Broxtowe, Cardiff North and Christchurch,
