On 25th January, the BBC said it would take more than two and a half days to collate diversity statistics for the 169 new staff recruited to BBC News from the outside world over the last year. This has provoked an inevitable request for an internal review, at the BBC's expense.
On 30th January, the BBC released a range of statistics about staff for the year to 31 December. In the News line we have total headcount 6398; 962 BME, 2950 female, and 225 disabled.
