The first 'Artsy' Saturday night on BBC2 could have done better. At 8.10pm "Betjeman and Me: Rick Stein's Story" (a repeat from 2006) was watched by 740k according to the overnight viewing figures. "Railway Nation: A Journey in Verse" (six poets travel from London to Glasgow) attracted to 580k. More poetry in "Performance Live: Kate Tempest" (recorded live at the Rivoli Ballroom, Lewisham) dropped down to 180k. And archive Artsnight, "Poets at the BBC" drifted to 110k.
Just out of mild interest, who's problem is this ? Charlotte Moore, uber commissioner/scheduler of tv content ? James Purnell, Director of Arts and everything else but News and Sport ? Jonty Claypole, Director of Arts ? Patrick Holland, Editor BBC2 ?
