In the mid-nineteenth century, the Highbury Barn was a vast operation, offering tea, cakes, ale and gardens - a resort that could, at a peak, accommodate 3,000.
The pub that remains was packed last night, to mark the 53rd birthday of Today presenter Nick Robinson. Currently struggling to combine gastro with Gooners, the Barn is now notable for West End prices and plastic glasses on matchdays. My source failed to spot if the Robinson revellers were allowed real glasses.
