Steve Austins, who's been running Radio Wales formally since 2010, is to step down, at the ripe old age of 40.
Steve (Tredegar Comprehensive and University of Sussex) was just 34 when appointed, after more than a year acting in the role. He took the weekly reach from 419k up to 499k, but now it's on the skids, down to 333k.
Also in BBC Wales today, big boss Rhodri Talfan Davies has told staff he'll need to deliver savings of £9m per annum by 2022 to live within the new ‘cash-flat’ licence fee agreement - equivalent to a 2% cut each year, though, as ever with Auntie, he's hopeful of some new investment.
