The Sun is convinced (at least at 1.08am) that Love Productions, makers of The Great British Bake-Off, have put the price of renewal for the show and spin-offs up to £20m - and that the BBC can't afford it.
It says talks have broken down, but, in the way of the new-Gallagher-journalism, the parties involved say something different:
Love Productions and the Beeb last night said “negotiations are ongoing”.
ITV declined to comment.
Love Productions is 70% owned by Sky. The husband and wife team running the company are Richard McKerrow and Anna Beattie, who share close to 28%.
