Top Gear's penultimate episode of the present run went up a tad in the overnight ratings, watched by 2.68m - a 12.5% share.
Newsnight's half-hour special, at 8.30pm on Saturday saw a welcome audience above a million. In fact, 1.33m, a 7.1% share. The late BBC News, at 22.15, managed only 2.88m (15.1%), presumably taking a bit of a hit from those preferring the adolescent angst of Adele to the worries of the wider world.
Moving back to Sunday, where regular and extended politics shows engaged in hand-to-hand fighting over guests, the big winner was Andrew Marr, with 2.7m viewers, whilst Robert Peston attracted just 270k, down 18k on the previous week.
