An very upbeat analysis of the BBC's current position vis-a-vis John Whittingdale, from Ian Hargreaves, Professor of Digital Economy at Cardiff University, appears in the current edition of Prospect.
Ian spent three years at the BBC from 1987, as John Birt's enforcer at News and Current Affairs, with Tony Hall as his Head of Television News. Tony succeeded Ian when he left for a return to the FT in 1990.
(From the dateline, it looks like the Professor handed in his Prospect copy just before his 65th birthday - Lord Hall preceeded him to State Pension in March)
