All Greek

5.5m enjoyed ITV's The Durrells last night. Expect a Corfu tourism surge after school summer holidays. The palace at Mon Repos - birthplace of Prince Philip - is used for the exteriors of Countess Mavrodaki's (Leslie Caron) villa; the interiors were shot at Bamber Gascoigne's modest West Horsley Place. I haven't yet tracked down the main family villa; hard to believe the interiors were shot in Ealing.

The script, direction and cast are wonderful, but I'm also looking forward to the theme tune, by Ruth Barrett, coming out as a single.

P.S. The cast stayed at the Corfu Imperial Resort on Kommeno Bay
