First Odds And Ends of 2016

ITV seem to have decided they can't make daytime programmes more interesting than sport. So, in addition to Formula 1, they're taking over C4's horse-racing deal from January 2017. 34 race meetings will feature on ITV(1) and 60 on ITV4.

The BBC cancelled 2,098 booked taxis in 2014, according to a Freedom of Information response elicited by The Sun. It doesn't tell us the costs involved, but estimates it at thousands. In recent years, the BBC has been booking some 270,000 cabs a year (my estimate), most of them to take staff to and from late or early shifts. A cancellation rate of 0.7%.

ITV's News at Ten is at 10.30pm on Monday and Thursday this coming week.

Last night's Sherlock averaged 8.4m viewers in the overnight figures - a smidge down on last New Year's offering. But the show usually 'consolidates' well, often up to 12m, when catch-up figures are revealed. Any suggestion that smart-arses Gatiss and Moffatt were complicating things just to oblige you to watch twice is, of course, daft.
