A look at the five Tories who've put themselves forward to next week's vote for the Chair of the Commons Culture Media & Sport Select Committee - and an additional £14,876 p.a.
Jesse Norman, 52, MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire since 2010 (Eton, Merton College, Oxford and a Ph.D from UCL)
Dad Torquil rescued the Roundhouse in Camden; Jesse still goes, most recently to see Nile Rodgers. Jesse taught himself the trumpet in his forties, and plays in community group Bandemonium in his constituency, and the parliamentary jazz band.
Jesse is big in the Hay Festival, taking to the stage regularly as an interviewer. He employs a quasi-judicial line of questioning in the Commons, most recently ferreting away at Lord Grabiner over his investigation into the Bank of England's role (or not) in dodgy forex stuff. He has a season ticket for Hereford FC, the reformed Hereford United, now facing life in the Midland League.
