The ITV team in Salford Quays must be looking back at their contract with planning advisors. They seem be a little late on revised proposals for the Metrolink tram extension to the Trafford Centre - proposals which have been on the table since 2013, and were given funding in April.
ITV say they first learnt of the new route six months ago - they say they moved the Coronation Street set to the banks of the Irwell in 2013 believing the Trafford extension would bypass their bit of the quayside.
They appear not to have noticed a public consultation exercise which ran for six weeks from July 4th last year - maybe they never walk along the quayside. Or they were missed out in the 37,000 letters sent to local residents and businesses.
Now they say recordings of the soap will be disrupted by the wheels of trams turning the corner just by their open-air set - and mikes will pick up station announcements from the open platform by the Imperial War Museum North. The next step is approval (or not) from the Department of Transport, expected in July.
