Always fun seeing who's made it to Cannes for the film festival. The BBC appear to have sent a full minibus from their Culture team, with Matthew Anderson, Editor, Rebecca Laurence, Deputy Editor, Kev [sic] Geoghehan, reporter and Nicholas Barber, reviewer. Little sign, as yet, of the old stagers from the dinsoaur medium of television - though Tom Brook seems to be there for BBC World. For radio, Mark Kermode famously shuns it.
Perhaps in some greater co-ordinating role, BBC Creative Director Alan Yentob turned up yesterday, in time for his old mate (and swimwear supplier), Charles 'Chuck' Finch's annual party at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Other chums in attendance - Harvey Weinstein, Gina Bellman, Mariella Frostrup, Amanda Nevill, Martha Fiennes, Franc and Leila Roddam, Barnaby Thompson and Christina Robert. B-listers included Catherine Deneuve, Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro and Jake Gyllenhaal.
