The BBC says it's playing straight on cutting management numbers. This blog - and others - have noted a recent growth in jobs graded at "Band 11", just below the "Senior Management 2" level.
In a Freedom of Information response, Auntie says in the past two years, only ten members of staff have moved from SM posts to Band 11 - and "so that we can represent the real reductions to our SM headcount and paybill we do
not count people changing grades and remaining in the role as a reduction to the SM headcount or paybill.
We continue to include those grade 11 roles in our SM headcount and paybill figures published in the
Annual Report."
I suppose now all we need is an assurance that when new Band 11 roles are created with senior management responsibilities, they are added in to the SM population.
