Self-effacing Martin Clarke, onlie begetter of the Mail Online and it's K-Obsessed Sidebar of Shame, has been talking to Henry Mance of the Financial Times.
He says “There are going to end up being four or five big global news brands,” naming Yahoo, CNN, the BBC and The New York Times. “We need to be one of them, we’re going to be one of them.”
Then there are some unsourced stats, which claim the Mail is the world’s most popular English-language newspaper website (topped by three Chinese publications). And that, when other news sources such as Yahoo are included, it ranks number two in the UK, number seven in the US, and number five in Australia.
