Rajar odds and ends

Some wild year-on-year swings for various BBC local radio stations in England. Leicester up 25%, London 16%; Three Counties down 25%, Stoke down 23%. Oddly, the overall total figure stands at 6.8m - exactly what it was in June 2009, June 2010, and June 2012.

One presumes most R4 current affairs programmes have followed the network trend down this quarter. They would have Tweeted, otherwise, wouldn't they ? The exception seems to be the World Tonight, as Tweeted by Editor Alistair Burnett, who'll presumably have to compete for the new merged Newshour/World Tonight editorship soon...

Smooth Radio seems to have done well under Global. Most of its increase, to 4.6m nationally, comes from rebranding former Gold Stations. But the London version added 216,000 listeners, to 781k in the quarter. Andrew Castle playing better in the capital than Simon Bates...
