"Radio 5 live unveils exciting new line-up" is the headline from the BBC Media Centre. An alternative view might be "Radio 5 live unveils cheaper line-up".
Three two-hour daytime shows are made into two, three-hour shows - not an elegant sentence, but I sure you'll understand it means more work from fewer people. Victoria Derbyshire, Richard Bacon and Shelagh Fogarty are leaving, saving more than a few Pendolino pounds from the budget. Peter Allen and Adrian Chiles shuffle to mornings. Dan Walker and, attempting to keep the gender balance from falling apart, Sarah Brett, get the long afternoon shift. Tony Livesey takes Peter Allen's chair alongside Anna Foster on Drivetime. Overall, there'll be more presentee-ism in the Salford Quays studios.
Congratulations to John Murray, who takes over as Football Correspondent from Mike Ingham. Rather than "Correspondant", as Controller Jonathan Wall blogs... (now corrected).
