Oldie

75-year-old Margaret Howard, radio stalwart of Radio 4's Pick of the Week for nearly two decades, got the most laughs per minute at the Radio Academy Hall of Fame lunch at the Savoy Hotel in London. "If you're going to ask a geriatric again to this ceremony, you must have a rail put on those stairs..."

She remembered the Radio Academy starting in the 80s. "People were not quite sure what it was. I'm still not quite sure. But it was a very nice lunch."

"Coming here has been a bit like drowning. I keep on seeing people from the past. I can say that it's not an unpleasant experience."

Margaret revealed that she'd completed an Open University degree course in September, so she's now available for work.  Maybe stand-up beckons...
