So, to fill up space in Birmingham's Mailbox, created by the dispersal of BBC network tv production, we get a portfolio of moves - and 5.5 new jobs. Anne Bulford, in charge of money, clearly can't afford much more, whatever DG Tony Hall's ambitions.
The teams who deliver entry level training schemes, talent and skills development, including inductions, will be based in Birmingham, as will those organising BBC apprenticeships and traineeships. The BBC’s Outreach and Corporate Social Responsibility team will also move to Brum. Cue empty space in White City.
The Mailbox will be a physical base for The Space, previously a virtual digital partnership between the BBC and The Arts Council, England.
A new digital innovation team will be developed in Birmingham, working with the Creative City Partnership and local talent to tell stories differently and produce content in a whole new way. (My italics)
69 jobs move from London, and seven from Salford. "This adds up to £23.5 million additional activity in the region over the next three years". Is that including or excluding resettlement and redundancy costs, for those who choose not to move ?
