August is try-out month for Newsnight - presumably a piece of collaborative work on rotas by acting editor Jamie Angus, about to head to Today, and the incoming Ian Katz. So last week Anita Anand got two goes, and this week Victoria Derbyshire gets three, before Kirsty Wark and Gavin Esler round off the week. Jeremy Paxman is back next Monday. Victoria also managed to fit in a session in the Woman's Hour presenter seat this morning.
At Five Live, Phil Williams covers Victoria's show - and his late night show is, in turn, covered by Jonathan Vernon-Smith, of BBC Three Counties Radio. According to their published schedules, the covering stops there - having finished with 5Live at 0100, Jonathan's back with a three-hour "phone-in, consumer issues and your stories" show each weekday at 0900.
