Hold or nudge ?

So there may yet be more movement in this year's BBC pay negotiations. Yesterday, the management side up its offer by £50 - to a flat rate increase of £650 for everyone earning under £60k. (This has been spun to the papers as adding £1.5m to the pay bill; but my farmyard maths says that requires 30,000 staff to be entitled - and the total headcount is supposed to be closer to 20,000). The BBC's operating surplus in 2010/11 was £483m, and £389m in 2011/12; someone, somewhere knows the figure for 2012/3.
