James "Jim" Purnell, the BBC's Director of Strategy and Digital, has got back into the groove. Shortly after being wheeled out to comment on the cancellation of the Digital Media Initiative - at a stated cost of £98.4m ("everybody at the BBC is mortified"), James was on his way to Derry/Londonderry for Radio 1's Big Weekend. Though slightly outside the target demographic for the station, at 43, Tweets from the blue-sky thinker ("gorgeous", "inspiring") suggest he's having a great time, and the mortification has passed.
