The deal to take Google UK to King's Cross seems to be edging closer, with reports that £550m is the price on the table for a 999-year lease on the land of yet-to-be-built Block A.
This rather narrow strip stretches alongside the platforms for shuttle services to Cambridge. Whether or not the price includes build costs is unclear - that may be a further sale and lease-back. The visualisation here is for massing purposes; the architects are reported to be trendy AHMM, also now signed to lead on the redevelopment of Television Centre. The UK Googleplex will be some 67,000m2, compared with 80,000m2 provided by the BBC's remodelling of Broadcasting House.
