The BBC will have been hoping for a calmer week, but The Savile Years won't go away. The discussion may have swung hysterically, but even the great panjandrum Lord Patten has been called for a failure of his normal sure-footedness.
Today, so far, we have the Daily Mail bringing forward allegations of inappropriate behaviour against Dave Lee Travis, both denied; and Kevin Marsh, former Today editor, spinning on behalf of beleaugured Newsnight editor Peter Rippon. Perhaps most interestingly, the Newsnight "film" was more a framework, he claims, with only one interview actually on tape, and the remainder taped phone calls and aspirations.
